The Avatar project was a private experience with space, art, sounds and smells mediated by a personal guide, in the concrete building of Prague City Gallery.

Despite the great distance, four artists observed, discovered, moved in space and had a dialogue with their own Avatar. It was an opportunity to try out their ideas, practices, whatever came into their mind or just to have a personal chat with a Prague City Gallery custodian. Headphones, an open mind and words were all that they needed!

This project was part of the programme of the Prague International Workshop How Can We Embody the Artwork and the Art Space, and How Does It Change Our Perception? The six-day meeting held in June 2020, invited participants to join the artist Tereza Ondrová and Tanec Praha and the Prague City Gallery teams to experience the transformation of tourism and the challenges of cooperation across all work roles within this project.  In response to the situation marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, the workshop programme was adapted to allow for attendance without travelling physically to Prague and therefore the workshop also got a new subheading How to be together when we can’t be together?
