Ana Pi (BR/FR)

Ana is an artist working with image and choreography, a contemporary dancer and pedagogue, a researcher-lecturer performer on peripheral dances and she also collaborates on projects of various kinds.

She presented her first documentary NoirBLUE – the movements of a dance (2018 – 27),  and was awarded “Best Brazilian short film” at the international film festivals of Recife and Belo Horizonte. It was also presented at FórumDOC – BH, Semana de Realizadores – Rio de Janeiro in 2018, Mostra de Tiradentes and Rotterdam IFFR in 2019. NoirBLUE is also a dance show for black box created in France in 2017 and presented in Belgium and Portugal.

In 2018, Ana created COROA, a performance installation for museum spaces, which was presented at Galeria Vermelho in São Paulo and Lafayettes Anticipations in Paris. That same year, the Cooperativa Paulista de Dança awarded her the ‘revelation in dance’ prize. Besides those main projects, she has also been developing the practice CORPO FIRME – danças periféricas, gestos sagrados.

Ana has been developing her professional experience through artistic residency programmes, workshops on the body, the image and the sacred gestures and the periphery. She has been part of the programming of international festivals as an interpreter and through the touring of her own work. She has worked in Brazil, France, Turkey, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Poland, Romania, Japan, Peru, United States, Martinique, Reunion Island, Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, Nigeria, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast and Mauritania.
