Gill Hart has worked in art and cultural learning for almost 20 years.
Her roles have included working at the National Gallery London where she was Head of Education from 2014 to 2018, Glasgow Museums and The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.
She is currently Head of the Devonshire Educational Trust based at Chatsworth in Derbyshire and is responsible for education across the Devonshire Group in Derbyshire, Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire and Lismore Castle in Ireland. She was the Museums Fellow on the Clore Leadership Programme 2009-11.
Gill is an experienced arts educator and spent the first 10 years of her career teaching art history to adults with a focus on engaging harder to reach audiences. In recent years, and having had a career which has largely involved talking about art, she has become interested in diversifying the means through which audiences engage with the visual arts. From sitting in silence, engaging in movement or experiencing art through all the senses, creating the conditions for powerful learning experiences is the main motivation for Gill’s work. Having recently relocated to the countryside, art and the natural world have become equal sources of inspiration.
