Kristin de Groot

Kristin started her career as a freelance dance artist in the Netherlands in 1987. She worked with, amongst others, Michèle Anne De Mey, Michael Laub, Ping Chong and Piet Rogie, and toured nationally and internationally. In 1996, she started a position at the ArtEZ School of Dance, became leader of the Dance Makers program in 2005 and head of the entire BA Programme in 2010. Starting in 2010, she was a member of the advisory committee for The Performing Arts Funds NL for six years. In 2011, she was appointed as the director of Dansateliers.

Since becoming a director, she has been involved in the development of various EU projects, generating opportunities for artists to further develop themselves, their practice and their network. In 2013, she cofounded the network Moving Futures and initiated a travelling national festival, Moving Futures Festival, showing works of a new generation of dance artists. On a policy/ political meta level, she is part of various bodies for discourse about dance and about arts and culture in general, to be able to co-create and influence the development of arts and culture policies.
