Susanne Franco is lecturer at the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice (Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage) where she teaches Dance History, Performance Studies and History of Contemporary Theater.
She has authored Martha Graham (L’Epos, 2003) and Fréderic Flamand (L’Epos, 2004).
She has published many essays on modern and contemporary dance, and on methodology of research, and she has edited Audruckstanz: il corpo, la danza e la critica (special issue of Biblioteca Teatrale, 2006). With Marina Nordera she edited I discorsi della danza. Parole chiave per una metodologia della ricerca (Utet 2005; ingl. tr. Routledge 2007), and Ricordanze. Memoria in movimento e coreografie della storia (Utet 2010).
As curator of dance events and workshops she collaborates with the Fondazione Querini Stampalia (Venice), the Foundation Pinault (Venice), and the Fondazione Piemonte dal vivo-Lavanderia a Vapore (Turin). Together with Roberto Casarotto, she has curated the dance programme for the Hangar Bicocca (Milan, 2009-2011).
